There are metal contacts inside that normally touch each other, completing the connection that makes the internal speaker play. In many devices, the input jack where you plug in your headphones is called a switching jack. I didn't have to open the Ipod to do what I did - it's a non-invasive procedure, won't hurt anything. For me, the reset didn't work, but cleaning the jack solved the problem. What I want to ask is, 1.) Is there anyway of turning the internal speakers off? 2.) How can I fix the earphone jack without taking it apart? 3.) Is there any way of turning down the earphone volume with this this problem? I would really like some answers. I've also tried several different pairs of headphones. I've already tried the whole rebooting thing with holding down the menu and center button, and I've also tried unplugging and reconnecting the earphones, it doesn't help me whatsoever.
Plug in headphones and speakers still play full#
When I turn the volume all the way down to zero, the music still comes out the earphones at full blast and not the speakers but when I turn up the volume, the music plays out the earphones and the speakers. When I plug in earphones, the sound plays through both the speakers and the earphones. It's the one with the camera in the back. I've been experiencing the same problem with my iPod. Okay, none of these answers are helping me at all.
